The story of the story..
..one December, a long while ago -in 1992 to be honest- I wrote a work as a Christmas present to my cousin Karl and his wife Mary, that was meant for their young children.. It was a short story, written in the manner of a ‘modern’ Grimm fairy tale..
Since then, this particular short story has had an extraordinary life as a tale read to many kids, at innumerable bedtimes..
Now, in a stretch of time when all that has been known to us.. comes, unstuck.. this story continues to stick, and resonate in Grimm depths of growing up.
The English actress Kate Anthony reads this work here -having shared it with her own children, who reflected to her how powerful the landscape of its imagining is..
